Home What is MAPL? MAPL Events College Coaches FAQ's About Us

MAPL events have three (3) mixed age-level divisions* to allow for excellent inter-regional competition.

  • BLACK division: 16**, 17, and 18 & under
  • BLUE division: 14**, 15 and 16 & under
  • RED division: 13 and 14 & under

*Age divisions refer to USA Volleyball age designations.

**Only select 16s and 14s teams [usually 8-10 total per division] will be placed in the Black division and Blue division respectively. Placement in the 'higher' division is based on team performance as assessed by the MAPL Competition Committee. Teams are encouraged to register for the division of preference based on the age levels above but read below to see how we handle acceptance, division placement, and seeding.

[see specific event tabs/links for details on each event]

  • Two day, WEEKEND only events.
  • MAPL's are NOT Stay-to-Play events but most event hosts utilize booking services to assist teams with lodging arrangements.
  • Six (6) match minimum guarantee
  • Wave play format with 3-team pools
    • Two (2) waves on Saturday
    • One (1) wave followed by bracket play on Sunday
  • Tournament Entry/Acceptance Criteria
    • Tournament registration and management by Advanced Event Systems (AES)
    • Open entry with team acceptance based on team performance and/or historical performance as determined by the MAPL Competition Committee. [This is not a first-come, first-served event entry model]
    • Teams will not be accepted if payment has not been received.
    • Entry fee: $575 per team
  • Rosters/Results
    • Rosters are required for each event.
    • Early submission of roster information ensures that club directors, coaching staff, and team representatives will receive important tournament updates via email from the AES system.
    • Results as posted in AES will be used for seeding purposes.
    • MAPL results are official so although divisions have competition across age groups, entered teams must meet the USAV age eligibility requirements for their respective team designation for their results to be entered officially.
  • Power League Format
    • Tournament flow establishes power pools for high level competition for all matches.
    • Depending on number of teams entered there may be slight modifications in tournament flow/format.
