  • Old Dominion (Southern Virginia)
  • Keystone (Pennsylvania)

Note: The Mid-Atlantic Power League would like to expand its membership in years 2010 and beyond.

Age Groups

  • The 2008 Mid-Atlantic Power League included age groups 16's, 17's and 18's.  Teams will be seeded based on ability and not by age.
  • The 2009 and beyond Mid-Atlantic Power League will also include age groups 14's and 15's

Tournament Format

Time

  • 2 day event, Saturday and Sunday
      - Wave 1, Saturday AM
      - Wave 2, Saturday PM & 1/2 of Sunday AM
      - Championship, 1/2 of Sunday AM & 1/2 of Sunday PM
  • Cost
      - $400 per team
  • Teams
      - 16 teams; 4 pools of 4 teams per pool per age group (4  teams per region x 4 regions is how we came up with the number)
  • Facility
      - One 12-court facility
Note: In the event there is not a twelve-court facility available, there should be a near-by facility that can be used concurrently with the main facility

Power League Format

  •  Points will be scored for each match victory.
  •  Teams will not be required to attend each event; however, in a team’s absence there will be no way for a team to accumulate points and improve in standings amongst the Mid-Atlantic Power League.
  • Play will consist of all ages playing with each other. The idea being that after event 1, all teams will eventually be seeded by ability rather than by age. An example may be that in the event a 16's team is better than a 17's team they would be seeded higher than that 17's team who may be better than an 18's team.  By the final event each team will be playing within their right playable ability.

Additional Notes

  • This will be run with Advanced Event Systems to provide real time standings and up-to-date tournament statistics for each event.
  • Tournament format will be determined based on number of teams in each power league event.
  • Should the ideal number of teams not be reached per event, the format will be changed to accommodate participating teams – the goal is to play as much as possible.
  • Clubs local to the host region will be encouraged to serve as host families for players; this will help DECREASE COSTS to encourage participation.
  • Bi-weekly / monthly teleconferences to gather feedback, club notes, suggestions for improvement – This will happen once the league starts and we may keep it to email for now.
