Mid-Atlantic Power League

Generally teams competing in MAPL are from states along the eastern seaboard and are part of the ATLANTIC zone of USA Volleyball.

In the past teams representing the following USA Volleyball regions have competed in MAPL:

• Carolina (CR-North Carolina)
• Chesapeake (CH-Delaware, Maryland, Northern Virginia)
• Garden Empire (GE-New Jersey)
• Keystone (KE-Pennsylvania)
• Old Dominion (Southern Virginia)
• Palmetto (PM-South Carolina)
• Southern (SO-Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama)
• Western Empire (WE-New York)

Three (3) MAPL divisions* allow for excellent interregional competition.

• BLACK division: 16, 17, and 18 & under
• BLUE division: 14, 15 and 16 & under
• RED division: 13 and 14 & under [NEW for 2012]

*Age divisions refer to USA Volleyball age designations.  Only select 16's teams will be placed in the black division with selection based on team performance.

• Two day, WEEKEND only events.
• Six (6) match minimum guarantee
• Wave play format with 3 team pools
  • Two (2) waves on Saturday
  • One (1) wave followed by bracket play on Sunday
• Tournament Entry
  • Tournament registration and management by Advanced Event Systems (AES)
  • Open entry with team acceptance done on a rolling basis at discretion of MAPL Competition Committee
  • Entry fee: $550 per team
• Playing Venues
  • Beginning in 2011 all MAPL events were held in convention centers with all competition at ONE (1) site.

·         Rosters/Results

o        AES use allows for real time results and final standings.

o        Results are official so although divisions have competition across age groups, entered teams must meet the USAV age eligibility rules for their respective team designation for their results to be entered officially. 

·         Power League Format

o        Typical tournament flow establishes power pools for highest level competition for all matches.

o        Depending on number of teams entered there may be slight modifications in tournament flow/format.
